Renewable Energies in the Baltic States

In cooperation with the BSF member Kanzlei Rödl & Partner a meeting with the title „Renewable Energies in the Baltic States – more than an Ecological Question“ has been convened on 14 April 2010 in the premises of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce. The meeting was sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and the BSF member „Deutsche Energie-Agentur GmbH (dena).

BSF (Baltic Sea Forum) supports the initiative Baltic Sea Action Summit (BSAS)

Improving cooperation within the Baltic Sea Region – especially regarding efficient maritime protection – is one of the core goals of the Baltic Sea Forum. The Baltic Sea is a unique and ecologically very sensitive maritime space. A major concern poses the fact that the Baltic Sea belongs to the most polluted maritime areas worldwide. The greatest danger to the Baltic Sea is increasing eutrophication, substantially a consequence of higher amounts of nutrients. The bad condition of the Baltic Sea carries huge implications both directly and indirectly to the different ways of utilizations of the sea. However, circumstances can still take a positive turn. The vast problems can nevertheless only be solved by an active cooperation between the states around the Baltic Sea as well as intense cooperation between public and private sectors.

Conference on the Future of the Baltic Sea Region in Klaipeda

The Baltic Sea Forum supports the meeting of the Deutsch-Litauisches Forum e.V. and „Litauischdeutsches Forum” e.V. with the title „Economical and Cultural Cooperation of the People of the Baltic Sea“.

Third Working Meeting of the VIII Parliamentary Forum Southern Baltic Sea

Away from the calm, by the wind in sea transport and measures of the European Union were the subjects of the Third Working Meeting of the VIII Parliamentary Forum Southern Baltic Sea, on 24 – 26 March 2010 in Hamburg. Chairman Mr. Kurt Bodewig voiced the thesis that ecological risks should not only be minimized by intricate technical systems but also to control transports by means of optimized control mechanisms, identification and application systems.

Maritime Business Lunch in Hamburg postponed

The Fifth Maritime Business Lunch was to take place on 12 May 2010 on Cap St. Diego Hamburg, with the guest of honor Mr. Hans-Joachim Otto, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Ministry of Economics and Coordinator to the Bundesregierung in relation to maritime economics. Unfortunately, due to imminent meetings in Berlin and Brussels concerning the European Financial Market the State Secretary had to postpone the Maritime Business Lunch. However, the BSF was assured that a new date is soon to be set.
