IV. Baltic Summer-Hands-on Seminar in Latvia
Baltic and German students will spend from August 21 to August to 28 one week together on a former German noble manor in Karlamuiza/Latvia. There, they will obtain a profound overview of the Baltic countries’ diversified history mediated by Lativian, Estonian and German renowned scientists.
In order to get to know each other better, each national group will stage a dedicated evening to demonstrate the typical virtues of its kind. Special workshops will take care of the practicing of Baltic dances – giving lots of pleasure to everyone involved. These dances will be auditioned on the very Goodbye Party.
Two excursions to Riga and Cesis/Wenden will illustrate hands-on history by closely examinating the Ordensschloss (castle of German Baltic Order), the Museum of Occupation and further historich buildings. Competent experts working for the Latvian ministry will lead discussions about the country’s minorities. A canoe ride on the river Gauja/Aa with a picknick included will deepen the nationalities contact towards each other even more by encouraging active togetherness. A forenoon concerned with Europe will conclude this week so rich in substance.
The objective of this kind of seminars is to engage the Baltic’s youth – partially not knowing one another – in conveyance of mutual knowledge transfer and common activities. They are Europe’s future having to procure ongoing peace and progress. This Baltic Summer hands-on Seminar is hosted by the Commissioner of the German Governments department for Cuture and Media (BKM).
