Baltic Sea becomes warmer
A warm June led to the upturn of the North and Baltic Sea’s temperatures
The German Federal Agency of Navigation and Hydrography (BSH), settled in Hamburg, recently announced its results of longterm temperature measurements of the North and Baltic Sea. Hence the BSH MARNET-Measuring station detected a reduced cooling during winter above longtime average, even of deeper water layers in the German bight and western Baltic Sea.
Therefore the „starting point“ for summer temperatures became higher, according to BSH. The German bight showed near-ground summer temperatures of in the average 2°C. Meanwhile MARNET detects temperatures around 13°C, whereas in the eighties and ninties it had been around 11°C.
